Owned by Mary and Ben Davis
Mary and Ben Davis, both born and raised in Texas, have called North Carolina home for over 20 years. Growing up surrounded by the stories and artifacts of their grandparents, they developed a deep appreciation for antiques and history. This shared love for history, artifacts, oddities, and treasures led them to create the House of Treasures, a store where the past is always present.
Origin of Our Business Name and Logo
The name "House of Treasures" holds a special place in our hearts. It was the name of Ben’s grandmother, Mildrid McDowell’s, gift shop (pictured above) in Bluefield, West Virginia, which operated from 1978 to 1981. Items that are now considered antiques were once newly innovative products in her store.
Our logo, featuring the Menelaus Blue Morpho Butterfly, is inspired by Mary’s cherished memory with her grandmother, Evelyn Stewart. When Mary was just four years old, she found a dazzling Blue Morpho Butterfly as a gift for her grandmother. Evelyn kept it on her wall until she passed, and the butterfly was inherited and is still treasured by our family today. This symbol of beauty and memory embodies the essence of our store.
Continuing the Legacy
At the House of Treasures, we are dedicated to preserving and sharing the relics, memories, and rich history passed down through generations. Our store is a testament to the timeless beauty of the past and a place where new memories and connections are made every day. We invite you to explore our collection and discover the stories behind each unique piece.
Tucked away in the heart of the Uwharrie National Forest is The House of Treasures, a hidden gem enveloped by dense woodlands, winding trails, and an aura of mystery. The Uwharrie National Forest, established in 1961 is named after the ancient Uwharrie Mountains, one of North America's oldest mountain ranges. The forest offers a wealth of recreational activities, including the popular 20-mile Uwharrie Trail and the picturesque Badin Lake Recreation Area, known for its scenic beauty and water activities. Wildlife is abundant, with frequent sightings of deer, wild turkeys, various bird species, and occasionally Bigfoot, making it a paradise for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.
